A Dalit family in Srinivasapura village, Mysuru, which falls under the Varuna Assembly constituency of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been boycotted by the village heads after refusing to pay a fine imposed by the panchayat. The situation has sparked controversy in the village, located near Siddaramaiah’s birthplace, Siddaramanahundi.

The trouble began after a quarrel between Suresh and Pramod, which led to a village meeting. Following the dispute, Pramod’s associates allegedly damaged Suresh’s house. In response, the village heads called another meeting and imposed fines on both parties: Pramod was fined Rs 25,000, while Suresh was fined Rs 15,000.

However, Suresh refused to pay the fine, leading to further consequences. The village heads, including Chikkandaiah, Basavaiah, Mota Mahadevaiah, and former gram panchayat member Mahadevaiah, accused Suresh of insulting them and decided to impose a boycott on his family.

Under the panchayat’s orders, no one in the village is allowed to interact with Suresh’s family until the fine is paid. As a result, Suresh and his mother, Mahadevamma, have been isolated from the rest of the village. They are being excluded from social and religious events, including festivals, weddings, and funerals. The village heads have warned that anyone who violates the boycott will be fined Rs 5,000.

Suresh and Mahadevamma have filed complaints with the District Commissioner, Tehsildar, and the Police Department, seeking justice. However, they have not received a resolution to their issue so far.
