Moradabad police in Uttar Pradesh arrested Ambedkarite activist ‘Didi’ Nirdesh Singh for allegedly abusing Hindu deities, saints, and the Maha Kumbh Mela. Singh was apprehended in Noida on January 30, following a complaint filed by Pramod Saini at the Majhola police station.
The controversial activist has been charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including 196(1), 299, 302, 353(1)(c), 353(2), and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
Moradabad SP Kumar Ranvijay Singh confirmed that the police received information about Singh’s whereabouts in Noida and acted swiftly to arrest her. “We were able to apprehend her from the location,” Singh said.
Upon her arrest, Singh reportedly claimed that she was not well. Prior to this, the Moradabad police had conducted raids at her residence in connection with the ongoing investigation.
