Tariq Hameed Karra, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), on Thursday condemned the tragic incident in Sopore, where a truck driver lost his life due to firing by the Army.

In a statement, Karra expressed his deep outrage, calling the killing of the truck driver a “grave concern” and an unfortunate event. He added that such incidents only contribute to a “fear psychosis” in the society and hinder peace efforts.

“The killing of innocent persons is barbaric, inhuman, and unacceptable in a civilized society,” Karra stated, urging the government to take the matter seriously and ensure that no innocent life is lost in the future.

Karra demanded a time-bound judicial probe to investigate the incident and to uncover the facts surrounding the tragic death of the truck driver. He called on the authorities to deliver justice to the devastated family.

Additionally, Karra condemned the killing of Makhan Din from Perody (Kathua), who was allegedly tortured in police custody. He said there’s the need for a transparent and time-bound magisterial inquiry to ensure justice for the deceased’s family.

“The government must bring the facts out and ensure that justice is served to the family of Makhan Din,” he added.
