58 Non-Locals Given Domicile Certificates in Beerwah: J&K Government

jammu and kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government has informed the Legislative Assembly that 58 non-locals have been issued domicile certificates in Beerwah, Budgam, based on marriage grounds.

In a written reply to a question from MLA Beerwah, Dr. Muhammad Shafi, Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Masood (Ittoo) confirmed the issuance of these certificates.

“A total of 58 non-locals have been granted domicile certificates in Beerwah on the grounds of marriage,” Masood stated.

The reply came in response to concerns raised about the criteria and process for granting domicile status in the region.

The issuance of domicile certificates to non-locals has been a sensitive issue in Jammu and Kashmir, especially after the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, which previously granted special status to the region.
