The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) has announced that Abu Hamza, the spokesman for its military wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip this morning.
Media sources reported that Abu Hamza, whose real name was Naji Abu Saif, was killed along with his wife, Shaima Abu Saif, in the attack on central Gaza.
In a statement, PIJ mourned his death, calling him a “martyr of resistance.”
The statement added, “His voice will remain in the hearts of the Palestinian people as a symbol of defiance.”
The Hamas movement also confirmed that five of its leaders and government officials were killed in the renewed Israeli bombardment. The officials were identified as Essam al-Daleis, head of government affairs, Yasser Harb, member of the Hamas political bureau, Ahmed al-Hatta, acting minister of justice, Mahmoud Abu Watfa, acting minister of interior, Bahjat Abu Sultan, director general of the Internal Security Organization.
Hamas condemned the attacks, calling them “a continuation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.”
Israeli officials have not yet commented on the latest airstrikes. However, Israel has repeatedly stated that its operations target militant leaders and infrastructure in response to rocket attacks and security threats.
The situation in Gaza remains tense, with ongoing airstrikes and rising casualties.
