Cyber Police in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, have said that they taken legal action against the misuse of social media platforms to “glorify militancy, radicalize youth, and spread anti-national propaganda.”

“During cyber surveillance, we identified eight individuals operating social media accounts that shared extremist content,” a police spokesperson told local media. “All eight have been detained for questioning.”

Among them, four individuals—Sajad Ahmad Lone (Kulgam), Zuhaib Zahoor (Srinagar), Abrar Mushtaq (Srinagar), and Farhad Rasool (Srinagar)—are facing legal action.

Four juveniles involved in similar activities were counseled and handed over to their parents. “They will remain under close surveillance,” the spokesperson added.

The Cyber Police said that strict measures will be taken against those using digital platforms for “spreading extremist content, inciting violence, or disturbing public order.”

“Any attempt to glorify militancy or promote secessionist ideologies will face strict legal consequences,” the police warned.
