‘Hijabis Are My Priority’: Chilling Tweets Call for Rape and Sexual Violence Against Kashmiri Women

kashmiri

A wave of anger and condemnation has spread across social media after a series of hateful tweets surfaced, calling for rape and sexual violence against Kashmiri Muslim women. The tweets, which included shocking and explicit threats, have drawn sharp criticism from netizens, who are demanding action against the users involved.

The controversy began when a Twitter user, Ben Dover (@nortjesznn0), posted a seemingly supportive message, saying, “Any Kashmiri girl feeling threatened in Delhi can come to my house at night. You will be safe and well hosted. A divided India will lose, A United India will win & thrive!” However, his later tweets took a dark and violent turn. He added, “But I can’t guarantee if she will be alive after spending a night with me,” and singled out Hijabi women, saying, “Hijabis are my priority.”

The replies to his tweets were even more disturbing. Another user, Luc (@bodyforsin), commented, “Surprise sex on the menu boys,” to which @nortjesznn0 responded, “We eatin’ well tonight.”

Other users joined in with equally vile remarks. Ashutosh Kunwar (@kunwar_ash00) wrote, “For Noida, come to my house… DM for address.” Another, सम्राट चन्द्रगुप्त (@LajeMagdhe234), asked, “Condom or without condom?” while K44 (@kishorerathore80) added, “Pajama utar ke kalma padaoge kya?” (Will you make them recite the Kalma after removing their pants?).

The tweets triggered backlash, with many calling out the blatant misogyny and Islamophobia. One user, @TrustMeUce, wrote, “Potential rapists are getting 4K likes! Exciting times ahead!” Another, Burhan (@bibliophile890), stated, “These are the common characteristics of a rapist mindset—sick-minded, illiterate, unemployed people.”

This incident comes amid rising tensions following the recent Pahalgam attack, which killed over 25 people. Kashmiri students and residents outside Kashmir have reported increased harassment, threats, and even physical assaults, raising serious concerns about their safety.
