The seven injured BSF personnel are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held on Sunday at the BSF’s Jammu frontier headquarters in Paloura to pay homage to the fallen officer.

The BSF is responsible for guarding over 2,000 kilometres of the India-Pakistan border.

The firing incident occurred just before Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. The ceasefire, effective from 5 PM Saturday, includes halting all military actions on land, air, and sea. The agreement was reached following a DGMO-level conversation between the two countries.
