RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years. This came just one day after Tej Pratap posted on social media saying he was “in a relationship” with a young woman.

Lalu announced on X (formerly Twitter), “Now, Tej Pratap will have no role in either the party or the family.”

He added, “Disregarding moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. My elder son’s actions, public behavior, and irresponsible conduct do not match our family values and traditions. Therefore, I am distancing him from the party and family.”

Lalu made it clear, “He (Tej Pratap) is capable of deciding right and wrong in his personal life. Those who wish to stay connected with him can make their own choices. I have always supported public decency, and obedient family members have followed this in public life.”

On Saturday, Tej Pratap posted a photo on Facebook with a woman, captioning it, “This is Anushka Yadav. We have known each other for the last 12 years. We are in love and have been in a relationship for 12 years.”

However, later that night, the post was deleted. Tej Pratap then claimed his Facebook account had been “hacked” and said there was an attempt to “defame and harass” him and his family.

Tej Pratap, 37, is already married. In 2018, he married Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai. But within a few months, Aishwarya left his home, accusing him and his family of mistreatment. The couple is now fighting a divorce case in court.
