President Donald Trump announced that United States forces launched a “very successful attack” on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the heavily fortified Fordow site, which he declared “gone.” The strikes mark the US joining Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Iran.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, adding, “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” In a brief Oval Office address, he warned Iran’s future held “either peace or tragedy,” saying that more targets remain.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the strikes, accusing the US of violating international law and the UN Charter. “This lawless and criminal behavior will have everlasting consequences,” Araghchi said, affirming Iran’s right to defend itself.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization reported no radiation contamination near the targeted sites and vowed to continue its nuclear program despite the attack. “We will not allow the development of this national industry to be stopped,” it declared.

The operation involved B-2 stealth bombers dropping bunker buster bombs, alongside submarine-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles, according to US media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s decision as “bold” and “righteous,” while United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed grave alarm over the “dangerous escalation,” warning of catastrophic consequences for the region.

The conflict has already resulted in heavy casualties: over 430 deaths and 3,500 injuries in Iran from Israeli attacks, and 24 civilian deaths with over 1,200 injuries in Israel from Iranian missile strikes.

Despite ongoing hostilities, US officials reportedly communicated to Iran that the strikes were limited and not aimed at regime change.
