A 17-year-old Muslim boy named Shahrukh was beaten to death by a mob in Churu city, Rajasthan, on Sunday evening. He had just returned from a Muharram procession when the attack happened near Ghantaghar crossing. The incident has created tension in the city and shocked the local Muslim community.

According to local residents, Shahrukh got into a small argument with some unknown men. Within minutes, the fight turned violent. More than a dozen men joined in and started attacking him. Eyewitnesses said the mob beat him mercilessly, while bystanders did nothing.

“People were watching, but no one stopped them,” said a resident who requested anonymity. “The attack was so brutal, it was heartbreaking to watch.”

The entire assault was caught on CCTV. Shahrukh was taken to DB Hospital, but doctors said he was already dead when he arrived. Early reports say he died from serious internal injuries. A post-mortem report is awaited.

Police forces from Kotwali, Mahila Thana, and Sadar Thana rushed to the spot. Additional forces, including RAC personnel, have been deployed to control the situation. Police have identified the suspects.

“The accused will be arrested soon. We are treating this case with full seriousness,” said a police officer.

Shahrukh’s family believes the murder was not random. They say he had no enemies.“This was not just a fight,” said a family member. “This was a planned murder. We want justice.”

Congress leader and state vice president Rafiq Mandelia met the victim’s family in the hospital. “This is a very painful and shameful incident,” he said. “I demand a fair and honest investigation. The killers must be punished.”
