In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a 16-year-old Dalit boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by seven minors after he lost a ₹50 bet during a cricket match. The accused, all minors, reportedly filmed the abuse and used the video to blackmail the victim repeatedly over the past month.
According to police, the assault first occurred in a Saharanpur village. “The accused sexually abused the boy multiple times under the threat of leaking the videos online,” said Circle Officer Vaibhav Pandey.
The victim, traumatized, confined himself at home before finally confiding in his family, who filed a complaint on Monday.
An FIR has been registered under the SC/ST Act and POCSO Act. “Three suspects have been detained, and the victim’s medical examination and statement have been recorded,” Pandey added.
Police are also investigating the betting dispute that triggered the abuse.
