Indian Premier League cricketer Yash Dayal has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Jaipur after a 19-year-old aspiring cricketer accused him of raping her in 2023 when she was a minor.
This marks the second sexual assault case against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru player within weeks.
According to the FIR registered at Sanganer Sadar police station, the complainant alleged Dayal assaulted her again in April 2024 at a Jaipur hotel.
“The accused promised to help my cricket career before sexually assaulting me,” the survivor stated in her complaint. Police confirmed charges under POCSO and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Earlier this month, a Ghaziabad woman accused Dayal of five years of “emotional, mental and physical exploitation” after false marriage promises.
While Dayal remains silent on both allegations, the cases have sparked outrage among cricket fans.
“The Jaipur incident occurred when the victim was 17. We’re investigating both matters thoroughly,” said SHO Anil Jaiman.
