In Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, the Food Safety and Drug Administration team conducted a raid at a mall in the city, seizing 116 packets of Halal-certified lentils on Monday. The confiscated packets belonged to a company based in Noida, and the department is now preparing to take further action against the company.

Assistant Commissioner of Food, Pawan Kumar, highlighted the immediate imposition of a ban on the manufacturing, storage, and sale of food items containing Halal certification in the state.

Anita Singh, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, issued instructions for the examination of such food products. Following these orders, a team from the department carried out raids at malls and prominent establishments in various areas on Monday.

Pawan Kumar’s team conducted a raid at a mall located in Avas Vikas on Monday, where they discovered the sale of lentils bearing the Halal certification mark. The team seized 116 packets of lentils, including arhar (pigeon pea), moong (green gram), and chana (chickpea) dal. Food Safety Officers Mahavir Premi, Kuldeep, Mahendra Nath Yadav, and Ashwani Kumar, among others, were present during the operation.

“In an effort to restrict the sale of products labelled as Halal, a campaign has been initiated. Teams have been formed to inspect Halal-certified products in their respective areas,” said Ashok Kumar Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Food, First Division, Food Safety and Drug Administration.
