The State of Palestine has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza, expressing confidence in his ability to guide the region toward peace. In a statement released through the official WAFA news agency, Palestine said it “welcomes the sincere and tireless efforts of President Donald J. Trump to end the war on Gaza, and affirms its confidence in his ability to find a path toward peace.”
The statement highlighted Palestine’s willingness to cooperate with the US, regional states, and international partners to reach a comprehensive agreement. It stressed that any deal must ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the release of captives and prisoners, protection of civilians, and adherence to the ceasefire. Palestine also called for guarantees against land annexation, forced displacement, and other unilateral measures that violate international law.
Officials reiterated the goal of a “just peace based on a two-state solution,” with an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel. The statement also outlined domestic reforms, including presidential and parliamentary elections within a year after the war ends, the establishment of a unified social welfare system, and education reforms aligned with UNESCO standards. “We are ready to engage positively and constructively with the US and all parties to achieve peace, security and stability for the peoples of the region,” it said.
Regional leaders have also expressed support for the proposal. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised Trump’s efforts, saying Türkiye would continue to contribute to diplomatic efforts for “a just and lasting peace acceptable to all parties.” The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt similarly pledged cooperation to finalize and implement the agreement.
Global leaders joined in backing the initiative. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged all parties to work with the US to finalize the plan, calling on Hamas to lay down arms and release hostages. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Trump’s commitment to ending the war and called on Israel and Hamas to follow the plan. Italy described the proposal as a potential turning point, while Germany’s foreign minister Johann Wadephul called it a “historic opportunity” and pledged Berlin’s support. European Council President Antonio Costa and Norway also voiced approval, emphasizing the need for a genuine chance for peace and a two-state solution.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments on X, stating that “a durable peace between Palestinians and Israelis is essential for political stability and economic growth in the region.”
The coordinated support comes after Trump presented the main points of his ceasefire plan in Washington alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The proposal includes the release of Israeli captives in Gaza, disarmament of Hamas, and measures to ensure humanitarian access for civilians.
