A young man was killed on Diwali night in Junagadh after a violent clash broke out over bursting firecrackers. Police said a group of five people, including a woman, allegedly attacked 28-year-old Divyesh Chudasama with sticks, iron pipes, and sharp weapons, leading to his death.

The incident took place late at night near Madhuram area in Junagadh city, where residents on both sides of the road were lighting firecrackers. Divyesh reportedly had an argument with a group of people from Amul Apartment, identified as Raju Arjanbhai Hun, Ramshi Ramabhai Barad, Ramabhai Veerambhai Barad, Keval Piyushbhai Joshi, and Jayashreeben Ramabhai Barad. The quarrel quickly turned violent.

According to police, the accused attacked Divyesh with sticks and pipes. His friend Nishit Rahulbhai Vaghela, who tried to intervene, was also injured. Both were rushed to Junagadh Civil Hospital, but Divyesh succumbed to his injuries on the way. Doctors found deep head wounds caused by sharp weapons.

As news of the incident spread, locals gathered in large numbers at Madhuram Road, creating tension in the area. A police team led by DYSP from Junagadh C Division reached the scene immediately and began an investigation.

Based on CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, police arrested three suspects, including a woman, within minutes of the attack. The remaining accused are being traced.

Police said Divyesh lived with his mother and worked in a private job to support the family. “We have registered a case and further investigation is underway,” a police official said.
