‘Prime Minister’s Trophy Disrespected’: Aligarh Activist Files Complaint Against Mitchell Marsh

icc world cup complaint

A police complaint has been filed against Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh by the president of the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Sena, Pandit Keshav Dev, over an incident involving the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy. The complaint was lodged on Tuesday at the Delhi Gate Police Station in Aligarh.

In his complaint, Keshav Dev alleges that Mitchell Marsh’s action of putting his feet on the trophy amounted to an insult to the people of India and a display of disrespect towards the prestigious trophy, which was presented to the winning team by “the Prime Minister of the country.”

Australia emerged victorious in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, defeating India in the final match held on November 19 in Ahmedabad.

The controversy arose when post-match images surfaced on social media, depicting Marsh lounging with his feet on the coveted trophy. The incident has sparked a debate, with opinions divided between criticism and defence.
