In Karnataka, panic spread at a local bank after its Wi-Fi network name suddenly changed to “Pakistan Zindabad.” The incident took place at Jigani Kallubalu Co-operative Bank in Bengaluru’s Urban District on Tuesday morning.

According to an NDTV report, a customer named Govardhan Singh noticed the suspicious Wi-Fi name while scanning for connections inside the bank. Alarmed, he immediately informed the bank’s management and filed a police complaint.

Police said the bank’s Wi-Fi system was under repair at the time, and a local technician had been called to fix it. When the network was restarted after the repairs, the Wi-Fi name appeared as “Pakistan Zindabad.” By that time, the technician had already left the premises, and his mobile phone was found switched off. Police are now trying to trace him.

Investigating officers said it is not yet clear whether this was a hacking attempt or simply someone’s mischief. However, given that the matter involves a financial institution, it is being treated seriously. An FIR has been registered, and authorities are examining network data to identify who changed the SSID (Wi-Fi name).

“If it turns out to be a prank, the person responsible could face charges under the IT Act for a mischievous act,” a police official said. “But if there is evidence of an attempt to provoke communal sentiments, more serious legal action will follow.”
