“Hang Salman!” Chant Hindus, Muslims in Unity Over 6-Year-Old’s Rape in MP’s Raisen

Raisen

The rape of a six-year-old girl in Panjra village, Madhya Pradesh, has triggered protests and rare Hindu-Muslim unity as communities demand justice. The accused, a local laborer named Salman, remains at large after luring the child into a forest with chocolates on November 21.

National Highway 45 saw major blockades as angry protesters brought traffic to a standstill. “We won’t rest until this criminal is hanged,” said Ahmed Khan, a Muslim community leader, capturing the sentiment at protests where both Hindus and Muslims shouted “Hang him!” together.

In a powerful show of solidarity, Muslim communities submitted memorandums to officials in Bareilly and Bari. “This isn’t about religion – it’s about every daughter’s dignity,” Khan said. The Congress party also joined demands for action, with spokesperson Pratibha Victor warning they would escalate protests if the accused isn’t quickly arrested.

The child was rescued when villagers heard her cries from the forest. After initial treatment at Obaidullahganj Hospital, she was referred to AIIMS Bhopal. Local Hindu groups criticized ambulance delays that forced the family to use private transport.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the victim, promising a fast-track trial. “Justice will be served,” he assured. Police have announced a ₹10,000 reward and circulated posters of the accused, who appears in CCTV footage buying cigarettes locally.

As searches continue, the case has become a rallying point for communal harmony, with residents emphasizing that child safety transcends all religious divisions.
