Parents and students in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district have accused an English teacher at Yandapalli High School of using casteist insults against Dalit students, leading to a strong protest outside the school in U Kottapalli Mandal. According to NDTV, families said the teacher, identified as Srinubabu, repeatedly humiliated children from the Dalit community.
Parents said their children were told things like, “You belong to a filthy caste… Do you think SCs are some kind of special people?” They accused the teacher of consistently using derogatory language and targeting the same group of students.
The families first took their complaint to the headmaster, Suresh Bhushan, but say he did not take any action. Students said they were disappointed that the administration ignored the issue. The lack of response led parents and students to stage a protest, accusing the school of allowing harassment and showing “institutional indifference.”
The incident has also triggered political reactions. The YSR Congress, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, questioned the ruling government over the allegations. “Are you bringing caste even into school premises in your government?” the party asked in a post, demanding accountability for the teacher’s alleged behaviour.
