The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a detailed plan aimed at tackling “illegal infiltrators” in the state, describing it as a “surgical strike” to strengthen internal security. Officials said the initiative is part of a zero-tolerance approach and focuses on identifying and taking strict action against those “living in the state illegally”.

An official statement on Tuesday said the campaign will not only improve security but also ensure that government schemes reach genuine beneficiaries in a transparent manner. The plan includes shifting identified infiltrators to high-security detention centres, making any escape or breach impossible.

“With this decisive action, the crime rate in the state is expected to decline, and police and security forces will be better equipped to prevent illegal activities, especially in border districts,” the statement said. It added that “illegal residents” have long taken advantage of government schemes, depriving rightful beneficiaries, and their identification will ensure that resources are allocated fairly.

The initiative is also expected to open employment opportunities for local youth and workers, creating fairer competition and a safer environment for job seekers. Officials said the drive will improve citizen services such as passport issuance, verification, and licensing, making processes faster and more efficient while reducing cases of fake IDs, fraud, and other related crimes.

“The public’s trust in government functioning will increase, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s progress under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” the statement said. The government recently intensified efforts to identify and deport “illegal immigrants, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis”, stressing that state resources belong to the citizens who are entitled to them.
