‘Taking What Isn’t Ours Is Haraam’ Mohammad Yunus Returns ₹4.43 Lakh Mistakenly Credited to His Account By Nilesh Nanwani

Mohammad Yunus from Devli village in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district returned more than four lakh rupees that were mistakenly transferred to his bank account, setting an example of honesty.

The amount of Rs 4,43,000 was accidentally sent to Yunus on Saturday by Nilesh Nanwani, a milk trader. After realising the mistake, Nanwani contacted Yunus, who did not hesitate and immediately agreed to return the money. Yunus later handed over the full amount to Nanwani through a cheque.

Speaking about the incident, Mohammad Yunus said, “Money came into my account by mistake and he called me. Today I am returning it to him.” He added, “Taking even a single rupee that does not belong to us is haraam in our religion. This is the teaching of Prophet Muhammad and that is why I did this.”

Nilesh Nanwani praised Yunus for his honesty and said such people still exist in society. “It is a good thing that honest people like Yunus are still alive,” he said.

The incident has been widely appreciated by locals, who said Yunus’s action shows that integrity and moral values still matter, even when no one is watching.
