UP: Doctor Booked for Raping Nursing Student on False Promise of Marriage, Threatening to Leak Private Photos

Police have registered a case against an intern doctor of a government medical institute after a nursing student accused him of raping her on the false promise of marriage and threatening to make her private photos public.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava said on Thursday that an FIR has been lodged at the Qiaserbagh police station based on the complaint of the nursing student. “The accused had established a physical relationship with the complainant on the pretext of marriage on several occasions,” he said.

According to the complaint, when the nursing student later asked the accused to formalise the marriage, he allegedly refused and began threatening her. “He threatened to leak her private photographs on social media if she continued to press for marriage,” the police officer said.

The DCP said police are currently verifying the intern doctor’s background and addresses, and efforts are underway to trace him. “The statement of the victim will also be recorded before a magistrate as part of the investigation,” Srivastava added.

Police said the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the law, and further legal action will follow once he is apprehended.

This is the second such incident reported at the same medical institute within the last two weeks. Earlier, a woman doctor from West Bengal had filed a complaint against a fellow doctor, alleging that she was deceived in the name of love and pressured to change her religion before marriage.

In that earlier case, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had personally spoken to the victim, while the accused doctor is still absconding.

Police said investigations in both cases are ongoing, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
