A 16-year-old boy was assaulted, stripped naked, and paraded for 1.5 kilometres in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, in an act of revenge after he eloped with a minor girl three months ago.
According to the victim, he and the girl had eloped but returned within three weeks. He was sent to jail for over a month, while the girl was placed in a correctional home. After his release, he moved to Dewas with his physically challenged mother, but returned to Ujjain on Thursday to arrange money for her medical treatment. It was then that the girl’s family allegedly abducted him.
“They locked me in a room, beat me, stripped me, blackened my face, and paraded me naked through public streets,” the teen told police. He added that despite a crowd watching and recording the ordeal, no one intervened.
Police initially detained the accused but released them after a warning. Following public pressure and the victim’s formal complaint filed with his mother on Friday, four people have now been arrested.
Additional SP Alok Sharma confirmed, “An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and all four accused are in custody.” Authorities are also examining video evidence to identify others involved.
