A man in Rajkot, Gujarat, has been arrested for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter for the past four years and his 17-year-old niece for the past seven years. The horrific abuse came to light after the daughter fled her home and was found during a missing person search.
The accused had initially reported his daughter missing. When police located her, she revealed she ran away to escape her father. “He has been forcing himself on me since I was 15,” the survivor told investigators. She said her father would play loud pornographic videos to muffle her cries.
Rajkot Rural SP Vijaysingh Gurjar said the accused, who is physically disabled, confessed during interrogation. Police recovered gel, a mobile phone, and a protection kit as evidence from the victim’s room.
During the investigation, a second victim was identified. The man’s 17-year-old niece is also believed to have been assaulted for seven years. She is receiving counselling, and a formal complaint is expected soon.
The accused’s wife is battling advanced-stage cancer and is bedridden. Authorities have coordinated with health officials to ensure she continues receiving medical care.
