A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 24-year-old neighbour in Gurugram’s Sector 37 area. The accused, who lived in the same building as the victim’s family, was arrested within hours of the crime being reported.
The Crime and Immediate Aftermath
According to police officials, the incident took place on Thursday evening when the child was playing near her residence. The accused allegedly took her to an empty plot approximately four kilometres away between 7 pm and 7.15 pm.
Gurugram Police public relations officer Sandeep Turan provided details about the case.
“The accused took her at least four kilometres away between 7 pm and 7.15pm on Thursday and raped her. Afterwards, he throttled her, dug a shallow pit, and fled after burying the body,” Turan said.
The girl’s parents filed a missing person report around 12.15 am on Friday, expressing concern when their daughter did not return home.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect quickly through CCTV footage that captured him taking the child away. The accused, originally from Bihar’s Supaul district, worked at a manufacturing firm in the area.

When questioned by police, the man confessed to the crime. “The suspect took the police team to the spot and helped them recover the body, after which forensic experts were called to collect evidence,” Turan added.
The body was exhumed from a shallow pit in an empty plot near the industrial area around 2 am on Friday.
Legal Action Taken
The accused has been booked under multiple sections of the law. These include section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with murder, and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which addresses aggravated penetrative sexual assault.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect would occasionally play with the child, as both families resided in the same building. This trust was tragically betrayed in the worst possible manner.
The neighbourhood where the crime occurred has been left in shock and mourning. Residents expressed outrage over the safety of children in their community. Local authorities have assured strict action against the perpetrator.
