Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi has alleged that he was duped of Rs 30,000 by a man who promised to arrange his marriage. Police said an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Bajrangi, who is also an accused in the 2023 Nuh violence in Haryana, filed a complaint stating that a relative of his neighbour, identified as Bunty, offered to help him find a suitable bride.
Marriage Fixed Through Middleman
According to the complaint, Bajrangi told Bunty that he wanted to get married and asked him to inform him if he knew of a good match. Bunty later introduced him to a woman named Rani, who claimed she could arrange the marriage.
Bajrangi said he was invited to Aligarh three times to meet prospective brides, but he did not finalise any match. Later, Bunty sent him a photograph of a young woman that he liked.
He alleged that on September 5, 2025, Bunty and Rani visited his house along with the woman and her family, and the wedding was fixed for February 7, 2026. As part of the arrangement, Bajrangi agreed to pay Rs 1.20 lakh for the marriage arrangements.
Rs 30,000 Transferred Before Wedding
In his complaint, Bajrangi said that on February 6 he transferred Rs 30,000 to the accused to buy clothes and other items for the bride.
However, when he reached Aligarh on February 7 with a small wedding procession, including his late brother’s daughter, he found that no arrangements had been made. The accused persons were not present at the venue, and their mobile phones were switched off.
“When I called the bride, she said she knew nothing about the wedding. I had to return empty-handed,” Bajrangi stated in his complaint.
He claimed that he never personally wanted to remarry but agreed to do so to take better care of his late brother’s daughter.
FIR Registered, Probe Underway
Based on his complaint, an FIR has been registered at Saran police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A senior police officer confirmed that Bunty, Rani and some others have been named in the case.
“The matter is under investigation. We are verifying all claims and examining evidence,” the officer said.
Police are also looking into an audio clip that has reportedly gone viral, in which the accused are allegedly heard discussing financial arrangements.
A neighbour said that preparations were underway at Bajrangi’s house to welcome the new bride. “There were plans and arrangements at home, but everything collapsed at the last moment,” he said.
