A video featuring Dr Udita Tyagi, a leader associated with the BJP Mahila Morcha (the women’s wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party), has sparked widespread outrage online after she made derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the Muslim community during a public event in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Several netizens and activists have accused her of hate speech and communal incitement.
What Did She Say?
In the now-viral clip, Dr Tyagi is seen addressing a gathering at the city’s PVS Mall. During her speech, she encouraged Hindu families to marry at a younger age and have at least four children. However, what has drawn severe criticism are her comments targeting the Muslim community.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Tyagi clarified her stance on why she believes Hindu families should have more children. “Whether it is nine children or four, if a situation arises where my children’s throats are being slit, and I have neither children nor weapons in my home, I will not survive. This is simply a practical calculation,” she said.
She added, “If I have four children, then they will stand by me to fight, and there will be more chance for my survival. This is now a game of possibilities.”
When asked who exactly she believes is posing a threat, Dr Tyagi responded with remarks that have been widely condemned. “The jihadist pigs on the other side, the ones breeding like swine, who else could it be? How much more clarity is needed? I am talking about Muslims,” she stated.
In the viral clip, she also referred to Muslims as “jihadi pigs” and claimed that Muslims were “producing children like pigs” while urging Hindus to increase their population.
Past Controversies
Dr Tyagi, who serves as the regional secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha in Western Uttar Pradesh, is no stranger to controversy. Her name has previously surfaced in connection with provocative speeches and confrontational political campaigns in the state.
According to claims circulating online, she was speaking at PVS Mall in Meerut when she allegedly urged Hindu families to marry early and have four children as a counter to Muslim “breeding.”
No Official Statement Yet
There was no immediate official statement from the BJP or Dr Tyagi regarding the authenticity of the clip or the remarks attributed to her. The party has not confirmed whether any disciplinary action is being considered against its leader.
