The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that 22,404 Palestinians lost their lives in conflicts during 2023, marking the deadliest year since 1948.

22,141 deaths occurred since the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza conflict on October 7, with 98% of the fatalities in Gaza.

The bureau highlighted a grim statistic, stating that almost 9,000 children and 6,450 women were among the casualties in Gaza, while 319 Palestinians lost their lives in the West Bank since October 7.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the 59th anniversary of the Fatah movement said the Palestinian Authority, which he heads, would not give up a single inch of their territory, and would not forsake its responsibilities toward Gaza.

President Abbas rejected military solutions, saying that they would only destabilize the region and the world, advocating instead for a political resolution based on international law.

He called for recognition of Palestinian rights to freedom and independence through diplomatic means.
