In a government school in Kuttagam Panchayat near Avinashi, tension escalated as parents defied a court order by opposing a Dalit woman, Pappal, from preparing food for students. Pappal, who works at Tirumalai Kavundampalayam Government High School, faced protests from some parents, leading to her initial transfer.

After Pappal filed a complaint, 87 individuals faced legal action under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, resulting in the arrest of eight people by Sewur police. Despite the turmoil, Pappal was reinstated at the school following public outcry.

Amid the trial in Tirupur District Chief Court, Judge Sornam Natarajan directed that both students and parents consume food prepared by Pappal. However, recent events unfolded differently when parents allegedly hired another person to cook, forcing Pappal to serve the food instead.

Lawyer PB Mohan intervened, conducting negotiations between Pappal and the parents. After discussions, parents expressed intentions for Pappal to resume cooking after the Pongal holidays. Mohan said that the parents had violated the court’s directive, stating, “The parents have violated the district court’s direction.”
