Two Muslim men were subjected to severe abuse during the Eid ul Adha festival in Maharashtra’s Solapur.
A recently surfaced video has shed light on the horrifying incident, where the victims were beaten, tied to a tree, and savagely assaulted by a group of individuals, including members of the Bajrang Dal. The youth were accused of cow slaughter.
The video that circulated on social media shows one of the victims speaking to a journalist from his hospital bed, recounting the incident and describing the extent of his injuries.
The victim said that he and his friend were sitting in a field on Eid ul Adha, intending to slaughter one of his own cows as they couldn’t afford to purchase another animal.
However, a group of 30-40 individuals associated with the Bajrang Dal militia arrived at the scene and started verbally abusing and physically assaulting them.
According to the victim’s account, he was forced into chanting the religious slogan of “Jai Shree Ram” by the assailants.
Despite complying with their demand, the violence against him continued. He was beaten with sticks and rods, sustaining severe injuries to his back, legs, and head. The victim’s friend also faced a similar ordeal.
Expressing his distress and seeking justice, the victim, in the recorded video, called for the apprehension and accountability of the perpetrators. He emphasized the looming threat to his life and the safety of his family, stating, “woh log kuch bhi kar sakte hai (these people are capable of doing anything).”
Notably, the victim also named the individuals involved in the attack.
Following the incident, a case has been filed against both parties involved—the group of individuals associated with the Bajrang Dal militia and the two Muslim men who were allegedly involved in cow slaughter.
