A Muslim man died after allegedly being assaulted by a group of men following a dispute over loud DJ music during a birthday celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district, police said. The incident took place in the Kanshiram Colony area under Charkhari Kotwali police station limits and has sparked anger among local residents after videos of the assault surfaced on social media.
According to the family members of the deceased, identified as Zahid, some local youths were allegedly playing loud DJ music late at night during a birthday party and creating disturbance in the neighbourhood. When Zahid’s family objected to the loud noise, an argument reportedly broke out between the two sides.
Family Alleges Men Entered House and Assaulted Them
The family alleged that a group of men later entered their house and brutally assaulted Zahid and other family members. Zahid was seriously injured in the attack and collapsed during the violence.
Videos circulating on social media reportedly show men assaulting women and attacking Zahid, who is seen lying unconscious on the ground after the beating.
Family members said the incident began after a disagreement involving Zahid’s younger brother during the birthday celebration at the house of a woman named Usha in the locality.
“They came to our house and started beating everyone. When my father Zahid tried to stop the fight, they attacked him badly. Because of the injuries, he later died,” a family member alleged.
Zahid Died During Treatment in Jhansi
Zahid was first taken to the district hospital in critical condition. Doctors later referred him to a higher medical centre in Jhansi for treatment, where he died during treatment, officials said.
The incident has triggered concern in the area after videos of the assault spread online, showing scenes of violence inside the locality.
Police Register Case, Search for Accused
Police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family and the viral videos related to the incident. Authorities said further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
A police officer from Charkhari Circle said, “A complaint was received from Shamia, a resident of Kanshiram Colony, alleging that Salman and two others assaulted her family members. A case has been registered and legal action is being taken.”
The officer further confirmed that Zahid died while being shifted to Jhansi for treatment. “The body has been sent for postmortem examination,” he added.
