The Delhi BJP is gearing up to launch a major outreach campaign targeting the Dalit community ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. This initiative will include various events, notably a “Dhanyawad Modi” rally, celebrating the naming of Ayodhya airport after Maharshi Valmiki, as revealed by a party leader on Wednesday.
Mohanlal Giraha, president of the SC Morcha of Delhi BJP, outlined three programs planned by the outfit. These include the “Basti Samark Abhiyan” and “Dalit Yuva Samvad,” with the latter expected to draw over 1,000 young individuals from the SC community. The event may witness the presence of BJP national president J P Nadda or Union minister Amit Shah.
Highlighting the initiatives and schemes launched under the Modi government “benefiting the Dalit community”, Giraha stressed the importance of communicating these achievements to ensure the government’s return to power.
A door-to-door campaign targeting Dalits across Delhi began in January, particularly focusing on the 12 reserved Assembly constituencies in the city.
Giraha emphasized the impact of schemes such as scholarships for students, housing for the underprivileged, and gas connections for women in the SC community.
Moreover, the SC Morcha is engaging with Dalit college students and hostel residents through the “Dalit Yuva Chala Modi Ke Sang” campaign.
A grand rally is also in the works to express gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “honouring” personalities like Dr. Ambedkar and renaming Ayodhya airport after Maharshi Valmiki. This “Thank You Modi ji” program is slated for the second half of February.
The BJP plans to campaign across all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi, aiming to maintain its dominance, having secured all seven Lok Sabha seats in both the 2014 and 2019 elections.
However, the party anticipates a tougher challenge from opposition parties like the Congress and AAP, which are exploring alliance options to counter the BJP’s electoral momentum in Delhi.
