A 20-year-old Muslim youth from Bihar’s Gopalganj district has reportedly gone missing after allegedly being assaulted aboard the Purvanchal Express while returning home from Uttar Pradesh for Eid-ul-Adha holidays.
The missing youth has been identified as Faizan Ahmad Shah, a resident of Churaman Chak Bhatwalia village under the limits of Phulwaria Police Station in Bihar.
According to his family, Faizan studies at Jamia Amjadiya Ghosi Madrasa in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh and had boarded the Purvanchal Express to return home for Eid holidays.
‘Abbu, Everyone Is Beating Me’: Distress Message Sent From Train
Faizan’s father, Imtiaz Ahmad Shah, a government school teacher, said his son had informed the family after boarding the train from Mau Junction.
According to the family, after the train crossed Belthara Road and was approaching Salempur station, Faizan allegedly sent a distress message to his father saying:
“Abbu, there has been a fight… everyone is beating me in the train… I am messaging while hiding.”
Imtiaz said he immediately responded and asked his son to get down at the next station and call him.
“I told him to get off at the next station and contact me, but after that his phone was switched off,” he said.
The family said repeated attempts to contact Faizan failed, and there has been no information about his whereabouts since the message.
Family Alleges Assault by Unknown Persons
According to the family, Faizan was allegedly attacked by unidentified persons while travelling on the train. Some reports and family members have alleged that extremist elements may have been involved, though this claim has not been officially confirmed by police.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and disappearance remain unclear.
Police Say Investigation Underway
The family has lodged a complaint at Phulwaria police station in Gopalganj.
Kundan Kumar, the station house officer, said police are investigating the matter.
“Based on the complaint submitted by the family, the case is being investigated from all angles,” he said.
Police have not yet confirmed the cause of the incident or Faizan’s whereabouts. Authorities are examining available details to trace the missing youth.
