Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi for its inauguration ceremony. The temple represents a Hindu faith rooted in ancient texts and established in the early 20th century.
The idea for the temple came about during PM Modi’s first visit to the UAE in 2015. The UAE government provided land for the temple, which PM Modi praised as a significant step, thanking the UAE leadership on behalf of the Indian people.
Before the opening ceremony, Sadhu Brahmaviharidas acknowledged the support of UAE leaders and expressed gratitude for their friendship. He highlighted the strong relationship between PM Modi and the UAE leadership.
The inauguration of the temple coincides with Basant Panchami, a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of spring and dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, who represents knowledge and wisdom. This day also marks the birth anniversary of Shastriji Maharaj, the founder of BAPS Sanstha.
