A 25-year-old Muslim youth died after allegedly being abducted and assaulted by the occupants of a car whose vehicle had been grazed by his scooter in a minor road accident in Ghaziabad’s Mustafabad area on June 29, police said.
The victim, identified as Zaid, was travelling with two friends from Mustafabad to a swimming pool on Behta Road around 3:30 pm when his scooter brushed against a Baleno car. According to a complaint filed by Zaid’s brother with the police, a man stepped out of the car, slapped Zaid several times, and then forcibly pulled him into the vehicle before driving him to a nearby property dealing office. Zaid’s two friends were told to follow.
When the friends reached the office, they found Zaid lying unconscious on the ground. According to the family’s complaint, one of the accused was repeatedly kicking him. The friends attempted to revive him by sprinkling water on his face, but he did not regain consciousness. The accused allegedly warned the friends to take him away or face similar treatment.
Zaid was taken to a hospital in Delhi, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said no major external injuries were immediately visible on the body, though a mark was found on Zaid’s throat. The post-mortem report is awaited and is expected to establish the precise cause of death.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari confirmed that an FIR has been registered on the basis of the family’s complaint. A case has been filed under Section 103(1) — murder — and Section 3(5) — common intention — of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
One accused, identified as Rahul Maavi alias Pahalwan, has been arrested. A second suspect, Anuj Kasana, remains absconding. Police said they are scanning CCTV footage from the area and have deployed teams to trace the absconding accused.
