A 24-year-old Muslim man was allegedly assaulted by a group of Hindutva activists in Hyderabad’s Jalpally area, leaving him with serious injuries.
The victim, identified as Mohammed Mahboob, a resident of Wadi-e-Mustafa in Shaheen Nagar, was allegedly attacked on Jalpally Road under the limits of Pahadishareef Police Station. According to those close to the victim, he sustained serious injuries to his head, mouth, teeth and eyes during the assault.
Mahboob reportedly lost consciousness after the attack and was rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors treated him and administered six stitches. He is currently undergoing further treatment at Recovery Hospital in Mallapur.
MBT leader condemns attack
Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan condemned the incident and questioned what he described as a growing pattern of attacks on Muslim youth in the Balapur and Pahadishareef areas.
“Why are attacks on Muslim youth becoming a recurring phenomenon in Balapur and Pahadishareef areas? Every few weeks a new incident surfaces, yet the perpetrators continue to roam free,” Khan said.
He demanded the immediate arrest of all those responsible for the assault.
“I strongly condemn this cowardly attack and demand the immediate arrest of all those involved. Hyderabad Police must act firmly and ensure that communal elements do not disturb peace and harmony in the city,” he said.
Call for stronger security measures
Khan also appealed to Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, Director General of Police C. V. Anand and Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V. C. Sajjanar to take immediate steps to address the situation.
“I urge Hon’ble Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, Telangana DGP C. V. Anand and Commissioner of Police Hyderabad V. C. Sajjanar to take serious note of the increasing attacks on Muslim youth and strengthen night patrolling in vulnerable areas under Balapur and Pahadishareef Police Station limits,” he said.
He added that ensuring the safety of all citizens is the responsibility of the government and warned that any delay in taking action could encourage those involved in communal violence.
“The safety and security of every citizen is the responsibility of the State. Silence and inaction will only embolden communal forces,” Khan said.
