Delhi Police has intensified its investigation into the alleged violence during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest in the national capital, with investigators set to analyse CCTV footage, drone videos, mobile phone recordings and other digital evidence to identify those involved.
According to police sources, multiple investigation teams have been formed to examine the available footage and identify individuals accused of attacking security personnel and damaging public property during the protest.
Officials are also trying to determine whether “outsiders” and “habitual offenders” infiltrated the demonstrations and contributed to the violence, beyond those already identified at the protest site.
Mobile Internet Suspended Near Jantar Mantar
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the suspension of mobile internet services within a 1.5-kilometre radius of Jantar Mantar from 4 pm to midnight on Thursday.
The temporary restriction comes as security agencies continue monitoring the protest site and investigate the incidents of violence reported during the demonstrations over the alleged NEET paper leak.
Delhi Police Deny Plans for Crackdown
Delhi Police on Thursday dismissed claims that it was planning to crack down on the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar.
The clarification came after former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that security personnel could launch action against the protesters.
Responding to the claim, Delhi Police said in a post on X, “There is no plan of Delhi Police to crack down on the ongoing protest tonight as is being conveyed. You are advised to refrain from spreading or circulating any misleading/unverified information.”
Delhi High Court to Hear PIL on Friday
The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Friday a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a probe into the CJP-led protest over alleged examination irregularities.
The matter was mentioned before a Bench comprising Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia.
Requesting an urgent hearing, petitioner’s counsel Barun Kumar Sinha argued, “This is against the so-called student agitation. They have made the entire Delhi hostage. Roads have been blocked. Citizens of Delhi are suffering.”
Responding to the request, Chief Justice Upadhyaya said, “Alright. Tomorrow.”
BJP Alleges Conspiracy Behind Protests
Amid the ongoing political row, Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam alleged that foreign forces, Left organisations and Opposition parties had joined hands to fuel the CJP-led agitation.
He claimed the protests were part of a larger conspiracy to slow India’s economic growth and destabilise the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
The protests over examination paper leaks continue to trigger political confrontation, with the investigation into the violence and related incidents now expanding through the examination of digital evidence and surveillance footage.
