‘We Don’t Need Muslim Votes’: UP Minister Raghuraj Singh Targets Rahul, Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh minister of state Raghuraj Singh has once again sparked a political controversy with sharp remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Speaking to reporters in Aligarh, Singh accused the two opposition leaders of focusing on Muslim votes and alleged that their politics was centred on vote-bank issues rather than development.

‘Rahul and Akhilesh Only Want Muslim Votes’

Taking a direct swipe at Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, Singh said, “Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are a ‘Ram-Milai Jodi’, one blind and one leper. Both only want Muslim votes. Both keep lying and try to mislead the people.”

He alleged that the Congress and Samajwadi Party had little interest in the development of Uttar Pradesh or the country and were instead focused on electoral calculations.

‘We Don’t Need Muslim Votes’

Singh went on to make a controversial statement about the BJP’s electoral strategy, saying the party did not need Muslim votes.

He said, “We clearly say, take the Muslim votes. We do not need Muslim votes. We only need the votes of Hindutva supporters. If we get the Hindutva vote, our government will be formed again in Uttar Pradesh and the country.”

Singh claimed that the BJP’s support came from people who backed Hindutva and nationalism. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with development work in the country and the state.

Opposition Accused of Disrupting Parliament

The minister also attacked opposition parties over the functioning of Parliament. He alleged that opposition parties deliberately disrupted proceedings and prevented important legislative business from being conducted.

Singh said, “The opposition parties did not allow Parliament to function. They do not want any major decision to be taken in the interest of women. Even on important issues such as the Women’s Reservation Bill, the opposition is not serious.”

He accused opposition leaders of creating disruptions inside Parliament while making political statements outside.

Rahul Gandhi Targeted Over Women’s Reservation

Singh also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his statements on women’s reservation, claiming that the Congress leader had spoken about the issue outside Parliament while the opposition was disrupting proceedings inside the House.

He said, “Rahul Gandhi comes outside Parliament and says that the Women’s Reservation Bill will come in 2027. This is completely false. If he really cared about women’s rights, Parliament would have been allowed to function and there would have been a positive discussion.”

Singh said the BJP-led governments were working on women’s safety, dignity and economic empowerment, while accusing the opposition of using women-related issues for political gains.
