The Delhi Police have registered an FIR against YouTuber and commentator Ajeet Bharti over allegedly derogatory, casteist and sexually explicit remarks concerning Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad, Dalit women and Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
The case was registered at North Avenue Police Station on August 23 following a complaint by the Delhi unit of the Azad Samaj Party. The FIR invokes provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Information Technology Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complaint, Bharti made the alleged remarks in a video uploaded on August 22 while discussing the recent anti-reservation protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
The complainants alleged that the video contained “caste-based, abusive, humiliating, sexually degrading and potentially inflammatory statements” targeting Azad and Ambedkar. They also alleged that Bharti repeatedly used caste identity in a derogatory manner.
Azad Samaj Party seeks legal action
Workers of the Bhim Army and members of the Azad Samaj Party approached the police seeking action against Bharti.
Himanshu Valmiki, a National Core Committee member of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), described the FIR as a “strong reply under the law”.
“We want to categorically state that no individual can be given the liberty to insult social dignity and constitutional values,” Valmiki said.
He said FIR No. 30/2026 had been registered at North Avenue Police Station and added that the party would continue to pursue the matter through legal channels.
Ajeet Bharti denies casteist remarks
Bharti has denied using casteist slurs against Chandrashekhar Azad. In a social media statement, he claimed that his remarks came in response to abusive and obscene comments allegedly directed at his mother and sister.
Bharti said he could not remain silent when his family was targeted and alleged that the FIR had been registered under pressure from the Azad Samaj Party.
He also claimed that the provisions invoked against him would not stand in court and said he was prepared to cooperate with the investigation.
The case comes days after Bharti appeared prominently at the August 21 “Reservation Hatao Andolan” at Jantar Mantar, where protesters called for changes to India’s reservation system.
