Fourteen-year-old Dalit content creator Nishu Azad and her family have alleged continued online harassment, threats and social pressure following an ongoing dispute involving the family.
Nishu’s father, Sanjay Kumar, has alleged that his family members are receiving abusive messages, obscene language and threats on their mobile phones. He said that Nishu, who is a minor, and other members of the family are also being targeted.
The family has alleged that the issue has gone beyond social media trolling and has also created financial pressure.
‘Threats Are Being Sent to Our Family Numbers’
Sanjay Kumar said several mobile numbers linked to the alleged threats, along with messages, call records and screenshots, have been preserved as digital evidence.
He has appealed to the Delhi Police to take immediate notice of the matter, identify those responsible and take action under the law. He has also sought protection for his family.
Nishu said she continues to receive abusive messages and threats despite some people questioning her allegations.
Speaking to The Mooknayak, she said, “When these people can use such abusive and objectionable language with me through phone calls and messages, I naturally worry about my safety if I ever come face to face with them.”
She said her biggest concern was the safety of her younger siblings and other family members.
Nishu Alleges SBI Account Was Frozen
Nishu has also alleged that her family faced financial pressure after some people demanded an investigation into her father’s bank account.
According to her, some of the same people later filed a cybercrime complaint, following which an SBI account used by the family was allegedly frozen. She said the account had been receiving financial assistance from people supporting the family.
Nishu described the alleged action as another attempt to put mental and financial pressure on her family.
However, no official document or statement from the bank or cybercrime authorities was available at the time of this report to establish why the account was frozen or under which legal process.
Family Seeks CCTV Footage Over Alleged Stone Pelting
Nishu has also repeated her demand for the release or examination of CCTV footage related to her allegation that stones and pebbles were thrown at her home.
She said the family informed the authorities through a call to 112 and submitted a written complaint at Shalimar Garden police station. According to Nishu, a police team visited their home the following day and checked CCTV cameras installed in the society.
She alleged that the family was not shown the footage and that residents were not informed about what the cameras had recorded.
Nishu said this has led some people to accuse the family of making false claims about the alleged stone pelting. She has called for the CCTV footage to be examined again to establish what happened.
Nishu Raises Questions Over Society and Media Coverage
In a social media post, Nishu also raised questions about the employment of the father of independent journalist Bharadwaj, whom she has accused of being involved in the dispute. She alleged that his father works as a sub inspector in Bihar’s Vigilance Department and questioned whether this had given him confidence that he could avoid legal consequences.
Nishu also said media teams had been visiting her housing society and that some residents were sharing details about her home and floor during interviews.
She said, “For the last two or three days, media has been coming inside our society and some residents have been sharing information about my house and floor during interviews. After this, media is putting cameras outside my house.”
She added that the situation had made her feel unsafe in her own society.
The family says the controversy has now expanded from the alleged attack on Sanjay Kumar at Jantar Mantar to online threats, alleged rape threats against Nishu, alleged stone pelting, the freezing of a bank account and pressure to leave their rented home.
Residents, however, have denied the stone pelting allegations and have raised objections to Nishu’s social media content.
The allegations made by both sides have not been independently established. Any criminal or legal responsibility would need to be determined through a proper investigation and due process.
