A Dalit family was allegedly attacked by a group of people after attending an annual temple jatra in Gurusanagi village of Vadagera taluk in Yadgir district on Monday.

Police have arrested six people and registered an atrocity and assault case against 13 accused in connection with the incident.

According to police, several Dalit families from Chamanal and Pagalapur villages had travelled to Gurusanagi to attend the annual jatra at the Siddhalingeshwara Temple on Sunday evening.

Argument Started After Autorickshaw Hit Local Boy

The families were returning on Monday morning when their autorickshaw allegedly hit and injured a local boy.

An argument then broke out between the Dalit families and some local residents. According to the police, the dispute later turned violent, with a group allegedly attacking the families with stones.

Police reached the area and began investigating the incident.

Six Arrested, Search Underway for Others

Yadgir Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said the incident involved a clash between two groups following a minor dispute.

“An atrocity and assault case has been registered at Shahapur police station. An FIR was registered against 13 people, and six are arrested. Search for others is on,” he said.

Police are continuing their investigation and are searching for the remaining accused named in the FIR.
