Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is facing criticism on social media after an old video showing him refusing prasad during a Ganesh puja resurfaced online.

The video, which dates back to 2023, has gone viral again as Ranbir prepares to play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming two part film Ramayana.

Ranbir Says He Is on a Diet

In the video, Ranbir is seen seeking blessings from Ganapati Bappa at a celebration in Mumbai. He later distributes modaks among photographers.

When a paparazzo offers him prasad, Ranbir appears to decline it and says, “Main to diet pe hun, tum kha lo.”

The clip has resurfaced several years after it was recorded and has triggered criticism from some social media users.

One user wrote, “On a serious note, one piece of sweet as prasad won’t affect your health. Yeh diet ka reason bilkul bakwass diya hai.”

Another commented, “Isko beef de dete to ye kha leta.”

A third user wrote, “Ek chhoti si bite kha leta toh mar nahi jata.”

Some users also connected the controversy to Ranbir’s upcoming role as Lord Ram, with one comment saying, “Beef khane wale prasad kaise kha sakta hai… aur inko Ram bana diya hai.”

Another user claimed, “Likh kar le lo Ramayana flop hogi.”

These comments represent reactions from individual social media users and do not establish any claim about Ranbir’s dietary choices or religious beliefs.

Old Video Resurfaces Amid Ramayana Buzz

The controversy comes after Ranbir recently attended a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration with his wife Alia Bhatt at the Ambani residence.

His upcoming film Ramayana has also generated considerable attention. The actor will portray Lord Ram in the two part epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

The film features Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil, Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal are also part of the cast.

Ramayana Release Plans

Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, with the India release planned around Diwali. The second part is expected to release in 2027.

The resurfaced video is from 2023 and is not related to Ranbir’s recent Ganesh Chaturthi appearance.
