A Muslim man was allegedly beaten to death with stones outside the Baroda Mew police station in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, with a local resident claiming that police personnel witnessed the attack but did not intervene.
A local resident, Tariq, told The Observer Post that the victim was identified as Saikun Khan, 31, the son of Nasir Khan and a resident of a nearby village.
According to Tariq, the alleged attacker, identified as Harsh Khati, had been detained at the police station earlier in the morning and was later released.
“He went to the police station and said that he would commit a murder. After coming out of the police station, he saw a Muslim man wearing a kurta and with a beard and attacked him with stones,” Tariq said.
Muslim Man Attacked Outside Police Station
Tariq alleged that Saikul was passing in front of the police station on his motorcycle when Khati allegedly picked up stones and attacked him without any prior confrontation.
“He randomly picked up a stone and attacked the boy while he was passing by. The boy fell after being hit,” Tariq said.
He alleged that several people present in the area later intervened and restrained the attacker.
According to Tariq, the incident took place during the daytime in an area where several people were present. He said some locals attempted to help the victim after the attack.
Tariq also rejected claims that the accused was mentally ill.
“They are calling him mad, but he was not mad. He was a normal and well-behaved boy,” he said.
Local Questions Police Action
Tariq questioned why Khati was released if, as alleged, he had threatened to kill someone before leaving the police station.
“The question is, if the accused was challenging the police and saying that he would commit a murder, why was he released?” he said.
He further alleged that police personnel at the station could see what was happening outside but did not immediately intervene.
“These police officers were watching from inside the police station, but no one came out,” Tariq alleged.
He also claimed that there was no previous dispute or personal enmity between Saikul and the accused.
“There was no dispute between the two of them, and there was no old enmity,” Tariq said.
