A 33 year old man and his 12 year old nephew have alleged that they were assaulted by a mob following a dispute during a jagran in the Badi Kali Mandir Chowk area of Lucknow.
According to FOEJ Media, the minor, Abdullah, said some youths asked him to bring cigarettes. When he refused, they allegedly asked him to chant “Jai Shri Ram”. Abdullah said he refused again, following which one of the youths allegedly slapped him.
Minor Alleges Attack and Stone Pelting
Abdullah alleged that a crowd soon gathered and someone hit him on the head with an iron bangle, leaving him injured.
He further alleged that around 200 to 250 people attending the jagran followed him to his home and pelted stones at the house and a nearby mosque.

His father, Mohd Irfan, said the family locked themselves inside the house as stones continued to be thrown. The family later went to the terrace and called for help. The crowd eventually dispersed, he said.
Uncle Claims He Was Also Attacked
Abdullah’s uncle, Mohd Sufiyan, also alleged that he was attacked while returning home.
“They surrounded me and assaulted me,” Sufiyan said, according to FOEJ Media.
He alleged that he suffered a head injury that required eight stitches and that his T shirt was soaked in blood.
The family said they are the only Muslim household in the locality but have maintained cordial relations with their Hindu neighbours.
Family Alleges Dispute Over Mosque
The family also alleged that some outsiders have claimed that the mosque near their home stands on temple land. They said the mosque was built in 1920 and is managed by their family.
According to the family, they have faced threats of eviction and harassment after opposing these claims.
Sufiyan named Ashish, Vikas, Anshu, Mohit, Anand and Umang among those allegedly involved in the assault.
Police have registered an FIR against Anshu, Vikas, Ashish, Anand and Mohit, along with 200 to 300 unidentified people.
