A man from Jhansi who moved to West Bengal nearly two decades ago in search of work has returned to his ancestral village with his wife and four children and converted back to Hinduism.
According to local reports, Rajkumar, a resident of Rajapur village in Jhansi’s Raksha area, had moved to Malda in West Bengal around 20 years ago to work as a labourer.
During his stay in Malda, Rajkumar allegedly faced pressure to change his religion. He later converted to Islam and adopted the name Rafiq.
Married Muslim Woman in Malda
After converting to Islam, Rafiq married Afsari Khatun, a resident of Malda. The couple has four children.
His official documents, including his Aadhaar card, were also reportedly issued in the name of Rafiq.
After spending several years in West Bengal, Rafiq returned to his ancestral village in Jhansi with his wife and children.
The family reportedly faced difficulties related to social acceptance after returning to the village. Rajkumar then expressed his desire to return to Hinduism and approached the district administration.
Wife Changes Name After Conversion
A religious ceremony was later held at Siddheshwar Temple, where Rafiq formally returned to Hinduism and adopted his earlier name, Rajkumar.
His wife, Afsari Khatun, also converted to Hinduism during the ceremony and changed her name to Anita.
According to the reports, Anita said she decided to adopt Hinduism so that she could continue living with her husband.
The couple is now living in Rajapur with their four children.
