A 10 day Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha programme held outside a mosque in Nedduru village of Telangana’s Rangareddy district has drawn attention after photographs and videos of the event surfaced on social media, Siasat reported.

The concluding event of the 10 day programme was held directly outside the Nedduru mosque in Kandukur mandal. The photographs and videos show participants gathered near the mosque during the programme.

‘Bharat Mata Puja’ Held on Final Day

SS Reddy, who regularly posts about local RSS activities, confirmed that a 10 day ‘Shakha Saptaham’ programme had been held at the Nedunuru Shakha in the Kandukur Khanda of Rangareddy district.

In a social media post cited by Siasat, Reddy said a ‘Bharat Mata Puja’ was conducted along with other activities on the final day of the programme.

Reddy posted photographs and videos of the event on Sunday, October 4. However, his post did not mention that the programme was held outside the mosque.

The images prompted questions on social media about the holding of such an event close to a place of worship.

One account questioned why such events were being allowed directly outside a place of worship and whether the administration should exercise greater caution in such situations.

Police Take Suo Motu Cognisance

Kandukur Police took suo motu cognisance of the matter after the photographs and videos surfaced on social media.

A police officer told Siasat.com that the event was not related to the RSS, despite the photographs and captions appearing to identify it as an RSS programme.

The officer said the area was peaceful and that Reddy had been directed to remove the posts. The officer declined to provide further details.

The police response differs from the descriptions accompanying the social media material, which identifies the gathering as part of the RSS’s 10 day ‘Shakha Saptaham’ programme.

No reports of violence or clashes linked to the gathering have been reported.
