Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has married senior journalist Nidhi Razdan in New Delhi, with the couple announcing the beginning of a new chapter in their lives through social media posts on Saturday, October 31.
Abdullah, 56, shared photographs of the couple on X, writing, “A new journey began yesterday.”
Razdan, 49, also confirmed the marriage in a post, responding, “It’s done bro @OmarAbdullah.”
According to PTI, the marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi on Friday, October 30. Witnesses included family members from both sides.
The wedding celebrations in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by close relatives and family members.
Abdullah’s parents, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and Mollie Abdullah, along with his three sisters and other relatives, attended the functions. Razdan’s parents, veteran journalist M.K. Razdan and Sarla Razdan, were also present.
Omar Abdullah’s Previous Marriage
The marriage is Abdullah’s second. His previous marriage to Payal Abdullah, with whom he has two sons, was formally dissolved by the Supreme Court in July 2026 after the couple reached a settlement.
The matrimonial dispute had been pending before courts for several years.
In July, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Omar Abdullah, informed a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe that the couple had resolved their outstanding disputes through mediation and had jointly sought divorce by mutual consent.
The settlement also provided for the withdrawal of cases filed by both sides.
The Supreme Court accepted the settlement and dissolved the marriage by exercising its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution.
For Razdan, the marriage is also her second.
