On August 2, around 20-25 members of the Bajrang Dal attacked Abdul Razzaq, a 55-year-old worker at the Alwar Hotel in Hodal, Haryana. The assault left Razzaq with a broken hand and inflicted severe injuries on another youth at the hotel.

According to Maulana Sabir, a local from Sakras village, the assailants mercilessly beat Abdul Razzaq while he was inside the hotel. The attackers reportedly hurled derogatory slurs at Razzaq during the assault.

Abdul Razzaq, the victim said that he was getting ready to have lunch at a hotel when he encountered a hostile group of approximately 25-30 individuals claiming to be members of the Bajrang Dal.

“They subjected me to a brutal beating and insulted me with hurtful words, referring to me as ‘Katwa.’ Shockingly, even though around 35 Hindus who were familiar with me witnessed the incident, none of them attempted to intervene or come to my aid. It deeply saddened me,” said Razzaq.

“We have been colleagues for a long time, and while they occasionally buy things from the hotel where I work, they did not step up to help me during the attack,” he added.

Razzaq’s son, Mohammad Anees, said that the mob carried dangerous weapons, including swords and country-made pistols.

“My elder brother was present during the incident, and fortunately, he was able to flee the scene. Another young person at the hotel wasn’t as fortunate; he was targeted with a sword, resulting in injuries to his fingers. The mob was armed with country-made pistols,” he said.

Following the incident, members of the Jamiat Ulema came to Abdul Razzaq’s aid and provided necessary assistance.

Anees emphasized the need for an investigation into the matter and sought justice for the heinous crime committed against his father.
