The Himachal Pradesh government has issued an order mandating that food establishments across the state display the names and addresses of their operators, proprietors, and managers. This decision, announced on September 25, aims to promote transparency and enhance public safety in the state’s food industry.
The move follows a similar directive from the Uttar Pradesh government, which according to the government came in response to disturbing incidents of food contamination, such as videos showing individuals spitting on food or mixing urine in beverages. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had expressed concern over these actions, labelling them disgusting and dangerous to public health.
Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh shared the development on Facebook, stating, “In Himachal, every restaurant and fast food outlet will be required to display the owner’s ID to ensure that people face no difficulties. Instructions for this have been issued in the Urban Development and Municipal Corporation meeting held yesterday.”
